Our beloved son, Theodore Joseph Hasselback, passed away on February 8, 2020. Teddy was born on September 19, 2012. He was born at Skyridge Hospital in LoneTree, CO and was raised in Castle Rock, CO. Teddy had complications from croup and left us peacefully in his sleep. He was 7 years old. Teddy was deeply loved and will be forever missed by his parents Adina and Chris Hasselback.
Teddy was in the first grade and attended Academy Charter School. He was fond of school (recess, lunch, and dancing down the hallways). Teddy was very bright and zoomed (his word) through his homework. He adored his teacher, Mrs. Debbie Kodra, they had a special bond and she was the only one who was allowed to call him Theodore. He often spoke of his best friend, Alex, they ate lunch together every day, played Roblox and Minecraft on the computer and were definitely partners in crime.
At home, Teddy liked to play computer games with his brother Owen. He loved to climb trees and play in the snow. He loved to swing in the backyard and had just learned how to swim last year. He loved the water, pool or beach, but Teddy's passion was Legos. He couldn't get enough. He would work on bigger projects with his Dad (who shares this passion), but could zip through sets alone that were way above his age range. It was so fun to watch his determination and excitement when he completed every project.
Teddy was hilarious and was always making us laugh. His sense of humor made sense and was way beyond his years, he had to keep up with Luke, Ben and Owen. He would think about things from every angle, he was sharp. He was sweet when he needed to be, stubborn when he wanted to be, but most of all he was intelligent, resilient and compassionate. He brought smiles and laughs to everyone and was loved by many.
Teddy is survived by his three older brothers, Luke (16), Benjamin (15) and Owen (10). His paternal Grandparents, Carlton and Janice Hasselback, his Uncle and Aunt, Carl and Nathalie Hasselback and their three children, his Aunt and Uncle, Kate and Aaron Copsey and their two children. His maternal Grandmother, Brenda McDaniel and Grandfather, James McGauhey, his Uncle, Aaron McGauhey and his son, and his Aunt and Uncle, Heather and Michael Nowell. Great Grandmother's, Delores Lynette, Barbara (McGauhey) Smith and Judy (McGauhey) Heck.
A funeral service for Theodore will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 950 S. Plum Creek Blvd., Castle Rock, CO 80104. A celebration of life gathering will follow at the church.
