He met and married Carol Alphonse of Brooklyn, New York in 1988. He then enlisted in the US Army 84th Division Field artillery in Ft hood Tx. After completing 8 years of service, he was honorably discharged. Van held positions with the NYC Transit authority, District Attorney's Office and Division of School Safety in New York. He trained with the New York City police department for special Mayor detail duty which was the highlight of his career in Law Enforcement. After early retirement in 1998, he relocated to Colorado with wife Carol and their three kids. He then started his own armed security company, Williams Protection Agency, which has been in operation for the last 16 years. As a member of Word of Life Christian Center he served as security support.
To know Van, was to love him. Most of the time, Van maintained a serious demeanor, that would always melt away in seconds - revealing a bright smile, a selfless heart, and a kind and gentle soul. A true people person, he lived for his family, friends, and even complete strangers - he would start a conversation with any and everyone. A man with a heart to give to others in need. But he really LIVED for his partner in crime, his wife Carol. He knew and touched so many lives and for that, his loved ones are forever grateful. Van is predeceased by his parents Benjamin Thornton and Emily Beatrice Williams. He is greatly missed by his surviving family: wife Carol Jeanetta Williams and children Shamon Xavier Alphonse, Davon Quentin Williams, and Brittany Jeanetta Williams; Siblings Rodney Williams and sister-in -law Dorthy Williams of Shreveport, LA, Nikki Williams of Castle Rock, CO, and Kim Williams of Cambria Heights, New York; Sister-in-laws Ann Michele Alphonse-Jones of Brooklyn, NY, Iris M.Taylor of Mobile, AL; Brother-in-law, Willie Alphonse III of Lakewood, CO, as well as a host of other family and friends. We rejoice, celebrate and take comfort in knowing that you're in heaven with God.
