
Nancy (McPhaul) Gill, age 88, of Catonsville, MD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Born September 2, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Julius Andre McPhaul and Ruth Ann West McPhaul of Washington, D.C. She was the wife of the late James Gerard Gill, her husband for 66 years.
Nancy was a graduate of Catonsville Community College (now CCBC) and worked as a registered nurse in obstetrics and geriatrics for Bon Secours, the Red Cross, and CCBC. For many years, she and her husband bred and raised champion Irish Wolfhounds. Together, they founded Greencastle Kennels and were longtime active members of the Potomac Valley Irish Wolfhound Club and Catonsville Kennel Club. Nancy was an avid reader who particularly enjoyed murder mystery novels. She also enjoyed theatre and travel, especially to Ireland.
Surviving are her loving children, James Gill, Jr. (Elizabeth), Julie Hartman (Steve), Thomas Gill (Joy), and John Gill; siblings, Ruth Mulroy (Kevin) and Donald McPhaul (Jane); grandchildren, Angela Caselli (John), Patrick Gill (Christina), Ashley Hartman (Manny), Catherine Gill, John Gill, Daniel Gill, Kayleigh Friday (Christian), and Natalie Gill; and great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Leah, Austin, Luca, and Skye.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, kindly direct contributions in Nancy’s memory to a charity of your choice.
