

Tony was born June 15, 1932 in Utica, NY to Louis and Mary D’Amelio. He graduated from Proctor High School in 1950 and subsequently graduated from Syracuse University/Utica campus in 1954. He married Carmella D’Amelio (nee Mondo) in 1954. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict 1954-1956. Upon returning, he joined General Electric and worked in financial management/accounting from 1956-1987. He received the Fred J. Borch award for distinguished contribution during the General Electric Best Buy Program. He was given the “Miracle Worker Award” in recognition of his dedication and continued efforts to maintain the profitability of the General Electric Audio Business.
Survived by his wife, Carmella; son David and his wife Melissa; daughter Diane Chmel and six grandchildren, Corinne, Chelsea & Connor Chmel, and Alexandra, Jessica and Michael D’Amelio. He leaves one brother Louis D’Amelio of Utica, NY and sister in law, Mary Dapice of Palm Bay, FL and many nieces and nephews.
In 1987, he moved to Ellicott City and joined his son, David, at D’Amelio and Associates, CPA firm, until he retired in 1997. He became a resident of the Charlestown Retirement Community in 2009. He was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City and then joined Our Lady of the Angels. A member of the American Legion, Maderia Beach, FL & member of Sons of Italy, Howard County where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus & Elfun Society for retired managers of General Electric. A proud, and loving father, grandfather, and devoted husband for 59 years, he will be greatly missed. He enjoyed traveling and sports, and was an avid Yankees fan.
The family will receive friends at the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at the Charlestown Retirement Community on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 9:30am-10:30am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am. Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Ellicott City.
