
On December 7, 2012, B. JEAN BOWEN, age 91, of Shorewood, IL and formerly Catonsville, MD, passed away at her home. Born November 5, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland, Jean was a daughter of the late William Elmer Greenwood, Sr. and Myrtle Ida Greenwood (nee Minton). She graduated from Western High School with the Class of 1939. Jean enlisted in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) Jean was discharged as a master sergeant in March 1946. On October 25, 1947, Jean married James Franklin Bowen in Baltimore and he preceded her in August of 2010. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Laurie and Richard Albrecht of Shorewood, IL; grandchildren: James Carl Albrecht of Urbana, IL, Lt. Meredith Minton Botnick (Aaron) of Milton, FL and Lindsay Catherine Seglem (Lt. Kai) of Honolulu, HI; one beloved great grandson Jack Omund Metcalfe Seglem; sister Ruth Bixler (Claude) of Timonium, MD; sister-in-law Donna Greenwood of Ocean City, MD; two nephews: Christopher Greenwood of Ocean City and James Patrick Greenwood (Kristen) of Berlin, MD; niece Tracey Townsend (Norman) of Towson, MD; great niece Camryn Townsend and great nephew Liam Townsend. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother William Elmer Greenwood, Jr. and grandson Mark Andrew Albrecht.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 18th from 2:30-7:30PM at STERLING-ASHTON-SCHWAB-WITZKE FUNERAL HOME OF CATONSVILLE, INC.; 1630 Edmondson Avenue; Catonsville, MD 21228 and on Wednesday, December 19th from 9:30-10AM at Catonsville Presbyterian Church; 1400 Frederick Road; Catonsville, MD 21228; where a funeral service will take place at 10AM. Interment in Garrison Forest Veteran Cemetery. Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jean’s memory to The First Presbyterian Church of Morris, IL.
