Dottie was born on March 6, 1934 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania to Richard and Dorothy Senbach of Washington’s Crossing, NJ. She attended the University of Pennsylvania and Rider College before moving to Washington, DC, taking an administrative position at the CIA. On August 24, 1957 she married Martin Eugene Sullivan. Choosing Maryland as their state-side residence, they moved around the globe following her husband’s career at NSA. While raising two young children, her life included years in Germany, France, Turkey - always returning to the Laurel/Bowie area in Maryland. In 1970 the family bought their family home in Bowie. Other than a surprise three year stint in Canada, they resided on Althea Lane for 35 years. In 2005, Dottie and Sully moved to their final home in the retirement community of Charlestown in Catonsville, MD.
Dottie’s passion for living included singing, dancing, her family and friends, her pets and her garden. Her positive outlook on life, infectious laugh and genuine interest in all people, kept her surrounded by friends and family her entire life. Dottie, energetic, kind and compassionate, was blessed with two true loves in her life. After her husband passed, Edward Collins filled the next eight years with love and laughter, until Ed passed at the age of 94.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Martin. She is survived by her daughter Julie (& Jay) Patronik, son John (& Kathy) Sullivan, and four grandchildren, Danielle and Tara Patronik, and Laura and Michael Sullivan.
Due to the current national health concerns, the family is opting for a private interment on March 12, 2020. Dottie will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Baltimore National Cemetery in Catonsville, MD.
A memorial gathering will be held for family and friends later this year. If you would like to be included, please reach out to her children, Julie and John.
