On February 13, 2025; GLORIA RAE SERIO passed away peacefully. She is the beloved wife of the late Charles R. Serio; loving mother of Jennie Hrivnak, Veronica Serio, Maria Scarcella and husband John, and the late Samuel “Sam’ Serio; cherished grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Gloria was the only child of the late Edward and Veronica Grott, who married into a large Italian family at a very young age and became a dedicated mother of four children. She worked alongside her husband in the family business “Sam Serio and Son’s Fruit and Produce” at Lexington Market until his retirement and was also a big part of their fruit basket business.
Gloria had a special way of showing her love to her family and friends through her excellent cooking and entertaining in their beautiful home. She adored and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called her Bubby.
Gloria loved Baltimore City and was a big sports fan. She loved the Orioles Baseball and Ravens Football Teams.
Family will receive friends from 10-11AM on Tuesday, February 18 at St. Joseph Monastery, 3801 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD 21229. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM. Interment in New Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
