Dear family of Mr Barlow, 
What a wonderful person, an honorable gentleman who, though he could walk on rooftops with agility, had a will of steel and a heart of gold. We met him shortly after the passing of his wife, many years ago @ St William of York. Our weekly encounters became anticipated ventures and we loved the many stories  some of which were of bravery and courage during the war, told in his marvelous voice with the kindest attention. Not long after a recent hip(?) replacement we were together bounding up the stairs to go to Mass.  That he could joke about pain and joyfully spoke of wanting to get on with living was so cheering to us. He will be dearly missed.

Hello family of Mr. Barlow,

My name is Sharon Dougherty.  I met Jim at the Knights of Columbus in Catonsville about four years ago.  I volunteered there on Friday nights when I had the pleasure of being introduced to Jim.  (Here I must confess that I have a degree in journalism, yet it is at times like this that even a writer can be lost for words to honor such a gentleman).  Faithfully every Friday thereafter that I volunteered, I received a sweet kiss on my hand (quite an honor for a young lady) and marvelled at the way Jim was a gentleman in every single way, and seemed to have a way about him that instantly made every person who had the joy of knowing him smile in his presence.  After a year or two, my volunteering ended, but I would occasionally run into Jim at Knights events open to the general public or at Mass at St. William of York, where I noticed he served as a lector.

Jim was amazing to me.  I could tell every time I met up with him that this man embodied the tenderness, sincerity, and love that I'm certain Christ himself would have smiled upon.  And though God desires for us all to be saints, he undoubtedly places holy men and women (Saints with a capital "S") in our path whose ways we can model after, and I totally believe Jim to be one of them.

Hardworking, gentle and loving, proper and charming, the epitome of an example of love.  

I am most honored to have gotten to know this man.  And I am certain God cannot wait to embrace him on the Last Day for us all.....

Jimmy, I will miss you at the Knights of Columbus. I will miss seeing you at the annual K of C retreat at Loyola Retreat House. You were such a devout and sincere worshiper and you inspired me when we were all there as a group. You will be in thoughts and prayer forever. Peace be with you and your family.
