

Joseph Gabriel Stevenson, 55, of Ashburn, VA, passed away on October 6, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1970, in Baltimore, MD. He was the beloved son of Patricia Stevenson and the late Joseph Stevenson of Catonsville, MD.
Joe earned both his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). A brilliant and dedicated engineer, Joe built a career marked by innovation and excellence. He contributed his expertise to respected organizations including ManTech International Corporation, BAE Systems, and Boeing, helping to ensure U.S. national security. Among his proudest professional accomplishments was helping design the circuitry used in the Mars Rover—an enduring testament to his passion and talent.
Beyond his career, Joe was a devoted father, loving partner, and cherished brother. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Stevenson of Charleston, South Carolina; his fiancée, Alexis Gruehn of Sterling, VA; his brothers, Matthew Stevenson of Gainesville, VA, and Kevin Stevenson (Emily) of Davenport, FL; and the mother of his daughter, Angela Brosius. He also had many nephews and extended family who loved and cared for him.
Joseph’s warmth and generosity touched all who knew him. He remained close with friends during every stage of life—from childhood through college and his professional years. He passionately supported his daughter's theater and dance companies, and he was a skilled woodworker, a loyal Virginia Tech Hokies and Baltimore Ravens fan, a highly involved member of the community and the Catholic Church, a religious education teacher, an athlete who enjoyed basketball, golf, and tennis, and someone who could always be counted on for a kind word or helping hand.
A funeral service will be held at the Chapel at St. Mark Catholic Church, located at 30 Melvin Ave, Catonsville, Maryland, 21228, on October 18, 2025, starting at 10:30 am. Following the funeral service, a committal service will take place at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, MD.
Following the burial, at 1:00 PM, family and friends are invited for lunch at Matthew's 1600 Restaurant, 1600 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228.
