Joseph Xavier Jr.

On April 5, 2025; Joseph Xavier Jr. passed away. He is the beloved husband of the late Hsiao Hui Xavier (nee Yeh); loving father of Joe Xavier and wife Kim, Craig Xavier, and the late Joyce Xavier Johnson; devoted Papa to Wyatt and fiancé Zoë, Ivan, and Eli Johnson, Alex, John, and Ellie Xavier; dear brother of the late Joyce and Anna.

Joseph valued family over everything. He lost his parents at a very early age and also one sister not long after. This drove his passion for family. Upon graduation, he decided to serve his country and joined the Air Force and was stationed in Taiwan. This is where he would meet his wife and begin to start his own family upon returning to the US with Hsiao Hui. A family that blossomed into 3 children and 6 grandkids, he was proud of each and every kid every moment of his life.

Joseph also had a passion for air planes and everything to do with them. He studied and enjoyed the history of the Wright brothers and aviation throughout WWII and other wars. For a time, he also enjoyed working on his Sonex plane and various Ultra-lites.

Growing up in California as a teenager, Joseph was also exposed to cars, drag racing, and just racing in general. He introduced his sons to racing in the form of karting and rc cars in the 80’s. A love of racing that would never leave any of their hearts. Many good memories and many more great friends came from this.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 13 from 2-5PM at the Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc, 1630 Edmondson Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228. Interment at a later date in Crownsville Veteran Cemetery.
