To the Kenney Family,

It was with surprise and sorrow that I read in the Twin Towers newsletter that one of my dearest high school friends passed away on June 11 of this year. The last time I saw Margie was at our Bishop McDveitt 40th  high school reunion in 2007. I'm so glad I was able to see her again after so many years. Margie had a great sense of humor leaving with me wonderful memories of that special time in our lives.

My deepest sympathy to the Kenney men.  Marge was such a special person, who had such great faith. Marge was my teacher 43 years ago and became a friend in later years.  What a legacy she has left in her stead.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Margie's passing.  Margie was my roommate for a short time at St. Joseph's College (1968)  and she was one of a kind!  She was genuinely nice and had such a sense of humor - it was hard to study as roommates because she always made me laugh! She loved studying English literature and poetry but then would make a snarky comment and it was hard to continue a serious conversation.  The picture you have posted is how I have always remembered Margie.  My condolences to John and her family.  She was a very special person who influenced everyone she met!

Margie and I were classmates at Bishop McDevitt High School.  She was warm, funny, sweet and one of the nicest people I've ever known.  She will be missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with her husband and family.

I only had the pleasure of being in Marge's company a handful of times, yet she will never know the gratitude that I felt to her. She was my younger sister Jen's teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend. Having lost our own mother when Jen was only 12, Marge helped my sister not only fill that huge void in some way, she inspired her to become the woman, teacher, and friend to all that she is today.  Thank you Marge. You will never be forgotten.

Words are never adequate in moments like these.It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one, especially to a beautiful woman who has inspired hundreds of young women. My deepest condolences go out to the Kenney family. I pray your family will find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Mrs. Kenney's wonderful combination of wisdom and wit made an indelible impression on all of her students.  She was one in a million and will truly be missed.  My deepest sympathy to her family.

Mrs. Kenney came into my life nearly twenty years ago when I was a student in one of her sophomore English classes, and she changed my life forever. She coaxed a painfully shy fifteen year old out of her shell and kindled a love of literature and writing that burns stronger than ever today. Mrs. Kenney inspired my own career as an English teacher, and I was privileged to work beside her (and to continue to learn from her) in the English department at Seton Keough for ten years before her retirement in 2013. Maya Angelou wrote, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." My teacher, my colleague, my friend, Marge Kenney always made me feel accepted, welcomed, loved, and capable of doing anything I set out to do. To the Kenney and Shartle families: it is my prayer that you will feel some comfort from your grief through your memories. Thank you for sharing this incredible woman with the girls of Archbishop Keough and Seton Keough for so many years; I am profoundly changed for having known and loved Marge.

Mrs. Kenney was a blessing to every young lady who had the opportunity to have her as a teacher, role model, and advocate at Seton Keough. She taught me a lot about American Literature, but even more about how to live life to the fullest, to be confident in all I do, and to cherish and laugh with those who surround you. Archbishop Keough 1982

Marge Kenney became my mentor when I joined the Seton Keough High School as an English teacher in 1996.  The students loved her for her teaching,  encouragement,  and support.  She was always there for me as a fellow teacher, helping me countless times both professionally and personally.  Marge will be greatly missed. God blessed Seton Keough and its students with her presence and dedication.

Ms. Kenney was my favorite teacher and I had her for home room senior year. I never liked school much but she helped make it bearable. She was a fun and caring person and will be missed. She was never too busy to listen to my problems and give advice. Heaven definitely gained an angel! RIP Ms Kenney!

Mrs. Kenney was such a wonderful teacher. She made English class enjoyable, but we learned a lot. She is one of the teachers who has left a lasting impact on me. I am very sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Kenney was such a phenomenal woman and teacher. She is the teacher who inspired my own career as an English teacher. I know if I can be half the teacher she was, I will have succeeded. She will be so missed.

Mrs. Kenney was inspirational not because she was an amazing teacher, but because she cared about her students and their lives. She led by example and with humor and grace and although more than 25 years have passed since I was her student, I have not forgotten the lessons she taught.

What a wonderful lady who I will remember always as my favorite teacher. She made me realize that I didn't hate English ... I just didn't know enough about it. We were the 'Margaret's' of 1998. She cared so much that she was more than just a teacher...Ms. Kenney made all of her students family. She had an amazing love for her husband and boys!! She was truly an angel on Earth and now, heaven has gained a beautiful angel. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
