Robert D. Cowperthwaite

Robert Deane Cowperthwaite, of Woodlawn, Maryland, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the age of 63, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his father, Edison Deane Cowperthwaite, his mother, Patricia Anne Cowperthwaite, and his sisters, Suzanne Cowperthwaite, Stacey Starling, and Kristin Cowperthwaite, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Theresa Till and Julie Cowperthwaite.

Bob was born on July 17, 1962, in Bar Harbor, Maine. He grew up in Woodlawn, a smart, rambunctious boy who loved to play sports, especially baseball. After graduating from Woodlawn High School Class of 1980, he completed engineering technical school and enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning his training to become an electrical engineer. An unfortunate accident left him unable to complete his training and service. As an adult, Bob was an invaluable help caring for his sister Julie and continued to support his parents in their later years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. His hobbies included coin collecting, rooting avidly for Boston professional sports teams, online gaming, and playing chess. He will be remembered for his sharp, creative mind and his wonderful sense of humor.

A visitation for Bob will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228, with a funeral service following at 1:00 PM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery & Chapel, Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore, MD 21207.
