Rose was married to Tom for nearly 40 years, mother to Beth Kistler (Chuck) and Tom Christovich Jr (Amy), grandmother to Liam and Maggie Kistler, Emerson and Elyse Christovich, and Grammy Rose to Tom's daughter Jessica Sanderson (Ethan) and their sons Evan, Eric, and Emmett, sister to Kathleen Lebiednik (Alan) and the late Maureen Rattie and a special sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin to many more.
Rose was born on July 28, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland to Theodore and Margaret Rattie. She grew up in Baltimore and attended Saint William of York Catholic School, and Archbishop Spalding High School. She received an Associates Degree from the former Catonsville Community College and for a time, she worked at what is now Northwest Hospital.
She became a full-time mom while Beth and Tom were growing up and volunteered at Saint Mark School Library and assisted with Saint Mark Church Vacation Bible School. Family celebrations, camping trips, ball games, Disney World, and Kings Dominion were among the many activities during those happy years.
In 2001, Rose began a long tenure at the Catonsville Library as a Circulation Assistant, where she especially treasured the personal and professional relationships that she developed with coworkers and members of the community
Rose’s favorite role in life was to be “Grammy”. She got so much enjoyment from spending time with the grandkids or hearing stories of their latest exploits or hijinks. She also loved traveling with Tom to see family and friends in Florida, Pennsylvania, and California and visiting national parks and landmarks from Washington DC museums to San Francisco’s cable cars, Alcatraz, Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks, the Grand Canyon, and even a road trip along parts of old Route 66.
Her passion for jigsaw puzzles would always become the central activity during visits. Before long the entire family would be huddled around a folding table looking for the next piece of the puzzle. At home she worked endless word search puzzles and watched detective television shows like “Blue Bloods” and “Law & Order”, and of course, “Jeopardy” was a priority each weeknight after dinner. She loved to read a good mystery novel – John Grisham was a safe bet for any Christmas or birthday present.
The family will receive friends on Sunday October 5th from 1 to 3 pm and 4 to 6 pm at Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home in Catonsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday October 6th at 10 am at Saint Mark Chapel. Interment to follow at Loudon Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Vincent de Paul Baltimore.
