Shirley C. Treadwell

Shirley Treadwell, 87, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025. Born at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to Elsie and John Ziemski, September 29, 1937. She was Married to Billie Treadwell for 57 years prior to his passing in 2018. Sister-to and survived by Robert Ziemski of Texas, Marie Williams of Florida, Debbie Jahnigen and Norman Ziemski of Maryland.

Shirley attended Seton High school then graduated from Towson State Teachers College. She taught for over 40 years in Baltimore and Catonsville Schools including St. Marks until the time of her retirement.

She was a lifelong resident of Catonsville and a devout Catholic. She had a passion for art, traveling abroad to paint and enjoy other cultures. She loved to garden and regularly shared plants and seeds with neighbors. Her adventurous nature is best exemplified in becoming a master scuba diver and certified night diver in her fifties. She loved her friends and family.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas Treadwell (Olga) of Maryland, and Joseph Treadwell (Kim) of Connecticut and her grandchildren Connor, Ryan, and William.

Doug and Joe would like to express their sincere gratitude for the continued outpouring of love, support and sharing of life provided by her sister Debbie Jahnigen and her niece Laura Rudy and their family. Your grace and kindness will always be remembered.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30AM, Saturday, June 7 at the chapel at St. Mark Church, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228.
