Silvia A. Castaneda

Silvia A. Castaneda was born on March 20, 1941 and she passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family in Catonsville Manor, MD on 02.02.2020. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She not only raised her own children, but also her brother and sisters. She was a kind and compassionate soul with a wonderful since of humor. Silvia went out of her way to help her family and friends. Silvia endured all the tests God had given her and she never lost her faith, she loved to read her Bible.

In her native country of Peru, she worked as a kindergarten teacher. Silvia loved to travel. She had traveled to almost every continent. She had visited places like, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Chile, Mexico, Africa, Spain, England, France, Italy, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands. Silvia also traveled her native country of Peru visiting wonders such as Machu Pichu, the famous Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis to name a few. She also traveled to Hawaii and the Western and Eastern coast.

Silvia loved photography, gardening and singing, she had a wonderful voice.

She is survived by her Husband of almost 60 years Bismarck G. Castaneda, her daughter Betsy Stoler-Klohr and her husband Jeffrey C. Klohr, her daughter Kely J. Miller, her son George B. Castaneda and his wife Lisa R. Castaneda. She is also survived by her Grandchildren George, Kristin and Taylor Castaneda, also Marcie M. Castaneda, Glenn Miller and Jamie Stotler as well as Jenna Klohr. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Eliza, Eiza, Rinn, and Connor.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5th from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228. A graveside service will be held 12PM, Thursday, February 6th at St. John's Cemetery in Ellicott City.

In lieu of flowers/gifts of bereavement, to please consider making a donation to the Maryland Hispanic Chamber FOUNDATION. All donations made in Silvia's name will be used to create a scholarship fund for Hispanic Students in Maryland pursuing an Education Major in honor of her career as a Teacher.
