Affectionately known as Vee or Aunt Dee, she had a profound impact on the lives of everyone who knew her.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Ronald Patrick Melvin.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen, son-in-law, Jeremy Schon, and granddaughters Lily and Eden.
She was loved by her siblings, Rosemarie Hunt, Noreen (George) Bennett, JoAnne (preceding Jim) Elliott, Carole (Scott) Miller, Jerry (Carol) Apicella, and Toni (David) Donovan.
Through her marriage to Ron in 1973, she became a cherished member of the Melvin family. She is survived by Joe (Cathy) Melvin, Roger Melvin, and Keith (Wanda) Melvin. Vera was deeply loved by the Melvins and is predeceased by Ronnie's parents, Lee and Genevieve, and siblings Lee and Carol Lee.
She will be greatly missed by nieces, nephews, beloved godchildren, countless cousins, a treasured circle of lifetime friends (Ann, Bridget, Charlene, Eleanor, Lori Jane, Sheila, and Valerie), her companion, Salvatore Milio, and his family, Kristen (Justin) Nelms, Merideth (Dan) Nagle, and their children.
In her professional career, she was a well respected Realtor for over 50 years of combined service with Caton Realty and Remax. She helped countless friends, family members, and clients through major life transitions. She did so much more than put a roof over their heads; she gave them hope and new beginnings. “A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built of love and dreams.” No one knew that and lived that more than Vera did.
In retirement, Vera thrived in her role as a grandmother to Lily and Eden. She adored her girls and would do absolutely anything for them. Her legacy lives through their big personalities, laughter, memories, and experiences they shared with her.
Vera was the ultimate host. Her home was central to many milestone celebrations throughout the years. Family weddings, birthday celebrations, family reunions, holiday feasts, and more. Summers were spent by her pool with family and friends, and winters by the fi replace with the aroma of her baking in the air. It was a sanctuary surrounded by her beautiful gardens and filled with love, laughter, food, and cherished memories.
She lived an incredibly meaningful life and always made time to help others. Those who knew Vera will remember her by her thoughtfulness, ambition, energy, and love for her family. She made everyone she talked to feel important, valued, and special.
May her memory be a blessing as we carry forth her legacy of hard work, love, and compassion in all that we do.
