

On December 26, 2020, William Kern passed away; Beloved husband of 38 years to Donna M. Kern; Loving father of William Scott Kern (Whitney), and the late Steven Vincent Macaluso; Cherished grandfather of J.T. Sands, Alexa Rosado (Zachary), Joseph Sands, and Sydney and Nicholas Kern; great-grandfather of Addie and Everly Rosado; Dear brother of Susan Lanman (Barry). William was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Amelia Kern.
William was a member of the Baltimore County Auxiliary Police Dept., where he retired as a Captain. He was a member of the Boumi Temple- Arab Patrol. He was a member of the Arbutus Fire Dept., where he was an apparatus driver, served as a Bingo chairman, and an EMT Paramedic. He was a lifelong member of the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Dept., where he served as a past Captain, the treasurer and he was in charge of the fundraisers. William was a member of the Lansdowne Volunteer Fire Dept., where he was an apparatus driver, treasurer, and the LOSAP chairman. He was a member of the Baltimore County Fireman’s Association, where he served as the financial secretary and the treasurer.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a loadmaster and served in Vietnam and in Antarctica. He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic.
William enjoyed doing woodworking, listening to soft jazz and country music, and enjoyed to travel, he visited the Panama Canal and most of the Caribbean Islands.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228 on Thursday, January 7, 2021, 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, 10:30AM. Burial will be for immediate family only at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.
