Amy G. Lee Williams (née Rimpson) passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and daughter. Though she left this earth at only 38 years old, her family is comforted by the fact that she no longer has to suffer through the physical and emotional pain she struggled with throughout her life.
Born in Denver, Colorado to Charlene and Emmitt Rimpson, Amy was a talented little girl. She was an avid lover of the arts and participated in theater, pottery making, and a variety of arts and crafts projects like making jewelry with her grandfather, Richard Rose. At a young age, Amy aspired to be a singer and wowed audiences anywhere she got ahold of a microphone. She first moved to Atlanta to pursue a music career in 1995 when she was only a freshman in high school. A return to Colorado the following year put that dream on hold indefinitely.
By 2000, Amy’s mother, Charlene, and sister, Kelly, had joined Michelle and settled in Atlanta. Amy moved in 2002 and lived the remainder of her life there with her own family. She married Robert Williams in 2005 and they had three daughters together – Navana (14), Nadia (12), and Naomi (9). Amy was very proud to be independent and support her family despite her disabilities.
It is no secret that Amy was incredibly blessed. The immediate family even thought of her as cat-like in the sense that it seemed she had nine lives. Amy was plagued by various medical issues throughout her life, yet she always came out on top. Everyone who knew her can attest to this with her recovery after a motorcycle accident 18 months ago. Amy was the passenger in a horrific accident, and was not expected to survive given the extent of the injuries she sustained. In true Amy fashion, though, she triumphed. She underwent 14 surgeries, almost lost her left foot and right leg, and had only one fully functioning limb for the first few months. Miraculously, Amy ended up almost fully healed and walking again. Just this past December, we saw her singing and dancing at Michelle’s birthday party.
Although she is no longer with us on Earth, we take solace in knowing that she can finally be at peace now. We also know that she lives on through her children, who are adjusting well to their new life with Aunt Michelle, Uncle Walter, Grandma Charlene, new brothers Hunter and Bryson, and new sisters Ryan and Devin.
Amy was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Richard Rose (1924-2012) and was there to welcome stepfather Wil Minor (1948-2020) as he passed through the gates of heaven only two days after she did. Amy is survived by her husband, Robert, daughters, Navana, Nadia, and Naomi, mother Charlene, grandmother June, father Emmitt, parents-in-law Dana and Kimberly Williams, brother Christopher Rimpson and his daughters Madysen, Mykah, Makynzie, Makayla, Makiyah, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Troi Rimpson and their sons Walker, Blayze, and Xzavyr, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Heather Rimpson and son Braedon, sister and brother-in-law Michelle and Walter Falconer and their children Hunter, Bryson, Ryan, and Devin Falconer, sister Kelly Minor, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation for Amy will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 12pm until the time of the service at 1pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, Centennial, CO.
