Andy died at his home in Alamosa, CO on Saturday,
May 18. Visitation will be Fri. June 14 from 4-
7 PM. The funeral service will be held on Sat.
June 15 at 10 AM all at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary
at 6601 S Colorado Blvd in Centennial. Interment
to follow.
Born and raised in the Denver/Aurora area. Andy
met Phyllis Hixon in the 8th grade and they were
married June 13, 1948. He worked as a carpenter
most of his life, and in 1972, they moved to Alamosa
to purchase and run the Valley Parts House.
When Andy wasn't slinging his hammer, he was
fixing someone's car. Andy and Phyllis spent 24
years of their retired life traveling in the 1960
Grayhound bus that they converted into a travel
coach.
Andy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis;
daughter, Sheryl (Rick) Suhr, son, Larry (JoAnn)
Kirkegaard; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Andy is preceded in death by his four brothers,
one sister, their spouses and his eldest son, Ken
Kirkegaard.
