August 15, 1938 – February 3, 2020
Ann was one of four children born to the late Ebert and Pearl Hawkins of Pueblo, Colorado. The Hawkins family raised their children working the farm in Pueblo and taught all of them traditional family values and traditions, which Ann successfully passed on to her two children. Ann attended Pueblo County High where she met her husband of 58 years, Ford Young. They lived in Pueblo for many years until moving to Canon City to continue to raise their two children, Kendall and Deron. Ann worked at the phone company as an operator in Canon City, was active in the church, in Stonecroft Ministries, sang in Sweet Adeline’s and bowled in the Thursday AM Ladies League. After the death of their 14-year-old son, Kendall, they moved to Manitou Springs, CO and later to Thousand Oaks, CA. After moving back to Denver, she worked for Martin Marietta for over 10 years until her retirement. Ann was a dedicated mother and wife, caring for her husband Ford for many years as he suffered from Alzheimer’s.
Ann is survived by her husband, Ford, and son, Deron (Staci), grandchildren, Dylan and Aiden, her brother David, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Kendall, her parents, sister Shirley and her brother Loren.
