Armin George Remke was born to George Henry and Clara Augusta (Marks) Remke on March 15, 1919 in Huntley, Nebraska. He met Maryon Irene Wallraff of Denver, Colorado while singing in the choir at Evanston Evangelical United Brethren Church and they were married March 9, 1941 and settled on Gilpin Street in south Denver.
Armin began his career with Gates Rubber in Denver, Colorado. During World War II, he served his country as a member in the Armed Forces utilizing the skills he acquired with Gates. Armin and two partners formed the Abrasion and Corrosion Engineering Company in Amarillo, Texas serving the agricultural and chemical market with rubber lining of tanks, fans, and pipelines to prevent abrasion or corrosion. After nearly 20 years as a pillar in the Amarillo community, he contracted with the Israeli government, solving their corrosion issues at the pot ash plant on the Dead Sea. After selling the interest in A&C, they returned to Colorado in 1969. He partnered with two of his friends to establish a very successful Pizza Hut Franchise in Hawaii, which enabled him to retire. His woodworking hobby became a post retirement passion where he blessed many churches and people with hand crafted furniture.
Armin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Though he was a successful entrepreneur, it was serving the Lord and others that defined him. He was instrumental in the founding of the Evangelical Presbyterian denomination which now boasts churches throughout the United States, including his home church, Faith Presbyterian of Aurora, Colorado.
Armin is survived by 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be sent to a memorial in memory of Armin: Residence Assistance Fund, Holly Creek Christian Living Communities, 7000 East Belleview Ave #150, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80111.
