and died Monday, December 4th 2023 at Swedish Hospital in Englewood, Colorado. He grew
up on the family farm attending rural school District #25 and graduated in 1947 from Brule High
School.
He joined the army in 1951 and transferred to the reserves in 1953. He was Honorably
discharged in 1957 at the rank of Sergeant.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Ridgway. They welcomed three children, Michael,
Patricia, and Barbara. They made their home in Sheridan, Colorado.
He retired from Gates Rubber Company, where he was employed as a steelworker. Arthur
enjoyed camping and deer hunting with his son, Mike and friends in the Colorado Mountains.
Arthur bowled on a weekly team for many years, and was still bowling in the winter 2023
league. Arthur was an avid golfer until the age of 92. He loved to travel and saw many
wonderful places. Alaska, Europe, and the Panama Canal were a few of the places he visited,
Ireland being one of his most memorable.
Arthur felt blessed to have lived 94 years. He was still active and living in the home bought in
1957. One of his favorite pastimes was the VFW. Friends, Bingo, horse racing, queen of clubs,
dinners, and breakfasts, and telling stories of his childhood.
Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Gimelli (Michael), Barbara Troyer (Mike), Grandchildren
Mikayla Matzdorf (Joel), Samantha Lange (Riley) Great-Grandchildren Logan Lange and Evelyn
Matzdorf, Sister, Mary Dickinson, Sister-in-Laws, Arliene Hull and Simone Hull, nieces and
nephews.
