Brenda Rae (Bergmann) Dreith, age 68 of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, May 1, 2020. Brenda was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, and she loved more than anything spending time with her kids, grandkids, and friends. Often described as a “sweetheart,” Brenda was a kind and gentle spirit, easy to talk to, and a great listener. She will also be remembered for her beautiful, friendly smile, dimple on her right cheek, and pretty, hazel eyes. Brenda will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Dana Grote and Teri Fairchild; her five grandchildren, Bianca Fairchild, Gianna Fairchild, Brendan Grote, Alaina Grote, and Liam Grote; and her two sons-in-law, Daniel Grote and Chad Fairchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Bergmann, and her mother, Frances Bergmann.
Brenda was born in Atlantic, Iowa on July 25, 1951. She and her family moved to Denver, Colorado when she was nine years old. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in southwest Denver in 1969, and during her high school years, she was co-managing editor of the school newspaper, the “Lincoln Log,” and she was a “Lancerette” (a member of the Pep Club). At Lincoln High, she was also a member of Touchstone (a creative writing magazine), the Girls Ensemble choir, and the Young Democrats club.
Brenda married Robert Dreith in October 1969, and they were married for 10 years. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom during her married life, but after getting divorced, she worked briefly at Statitrol (a smoke alarm company) in Lakewood, Colorado before starting her career at the U.S. Postal Service in Denver in 1981. She worked for a couple years as a union steward, but most of her 36 years at the Post Office was spent working as a postal clerk. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in December 2017. Brenda worked hard, often putting in countless hours of overtime and working the graveyard shift for many years, to provide the best life possible for her daughters. After she retired, Brenda enjoyed spending time with Dana, Dan, Brendan, Alaina, and Liam in Colorado and traveling to Idaho whenever she could to see Teri, Chad, Bianca, and Gianna.
Thank you to everyone who loved Brenda and has shown support for the family as they grieve. Memorial contributions in Brenda’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
