I loved Carol. She was supportive and helpful during my years struggling as a single working mother. Her advice was always meaningful and practical, given freely with love. Carol's memorial tribute video chronicles a life well lived and that includes raising and cherishing her first and most important love, her precious daughter Lauren. Carol, I will miss you dearly but know you are in a better eternal place watching over us all until we too come home. Thank you for the special, beautiful gift and blessing of you.

Your mom loved many things but loved being your mom most of all. She was a wonderful mother to you and was loved dearly by so many.
In this time of extreme sorrow for you and Kurt, may you find comfort and peace in knowing you, too, are deeply loved and supported.
We love you both very much!

I first met Carol when I was volunteering with the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance. We were looking for someone to do freelance public relations, she stepped up and offered her services. She was great at what she did and really cared about her clients. I'm happy that I got to know her through COCA and that we kept in touch over the years. She was always so nice and offered great advice to me about my career. May she rest in peace.

Carol was such a bright and energetic soul. Growing up with Lauren, I witnessed what a wonderful mother Carol was to her (and us all). I have the fondest memories of her making us breakfast in the mornings after sleepovers, planning birthday parties for Lauren, sitting in the back seat of her car as she drove us home from school.

Lauren, you have a big heart just like your mom. She will be dearly missed.

Carol was such an energetic and fun individual to get to know. She was so talkative and smiled so often whenever I saw her. My most memorable image of her is seeing how much she glowed with pride and how big her smile was at your wedding. She loved you so much Lauren. We’ll miss her.

How fortunate I was to have known Carol. We were classmates in the old Journalism School at Ohio State. Carol had that keen sense of observation and spotted me as a returning veteran. She especially liked the notion that I was taking print journalism and was a human interest writer. My fondest memory of her was that marvelous smile and never failing to say, " Colorado, (sigh)" whenever we passed classes. A gentle soul with the kindest of natures that I will probably never encounter again.

For 10 wonderful years your mother and I were enriched by the years we shared with you and James at Colorado Academy, Lauren. She was always enthusiastic and invested in making those years the absolute best and most worthwhile for you. Our by-product was the lovely opportunity to become friends. In the high school years she came to our parent meetings and always participated and helped wherever she could. We had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. She was a loyal, compassionate, and understanding friend after James' accident, and that was a gift that I cannot even begin to describe. Recently it was fortuitous that we all ran into one another at the Christmas Eve service at Columbine United Church. Only days before she passed away she had called me to express her desire to find ways to volunteer through this church in order to help others. She said she had the time and felt the call to do this. This gesture underscored who she was- a loving, caring, and capable woman, who generously gave of herself. Above all though, way above all, she adored you Lauren, her precious and beloved daughter. You made her SO proud! Her spirit will always abide within you.
