Connie Yvonne (West) Biles, born into this bodily realm on May 1, 1943 (Longview, TX), having journeyed far and sustained much to remain present in our worlds and stories, did courageously embrace the call of Grace to be restored beyond the boundaries of aged body and tired heart, passing on from our moment in time and unto the timeless on November 26th, 2022 (Littleton, CO, age 79). She was visited by many in her final days, miraculously mindful for the bestowal of blessings and “farewells” upon friends and loved ones, and attentively comforted by her family who tended to her at her home bedside as she at last embraced eternal rest.
Connie was preceded in death, and no doubt welcomed to a World beyond, by her “Daddee” (Lloyd C. West), mother (Betty J. West), brother (Billy C. West), Russell Lee Biles Sr. (former husband and father of her children) and Robert L. Adcock (former husband). She is survived by Bruce R. West (brother), Lloydella “Dee” Paczkowskii (sister), Denise Marie (and Tom) Fenner (daughter), Russell Lee (and Diana) Biles II (son), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, her cherished grandchildren (7) - Paul Jonathan (and Ann) Ungerland II, Sarah Beth Day, Alexandra Marie (and Adam) Shockey, Lauren Kay (and David) Kellond, Katelyn Joy Fenner, Lucy (and Jase) Biles-Hoover, Duncan Leonard Biles - and an increasing bounty of great grandchildren (7), all of whom she was able to know and thoroughly “spoil as a grandmother should,” thanks to many answered prayers throughout the years and a miraculous continuation of her days until she was well and truly prepared to depart.
Known to many as a good heart and an amazing presence of a person, she is lovingly remembered as a “sexy mama” and “blessed angel” of a friend by many who enriched her story with devout companionship throughout the copious chapters of her life. Connie’s substantial spirit will endure in the lives of her family, friends, and loved ones, through countless joyful, silly, and special memories, such as: the many blessings she bestowed on family and friends through wacky halloween costumes, wonderful theater wardrobes, and her unique gifting to manifest beauty in our material world through her talents as a seamstress; dozens of shimmering and sparkling Christmas celebrations brightened by her bedazzled wrapping paper selections and boxes bejeweled by carefully crafted bows and ribbons; her uncanny ability, especially in her later years, to pick the most peculiar and amusing gifts for her family and friends (especially once she mastered shopping online!); her lifelong love affair with chocolate (which she handed down to more than a few members of her family!); her passion for the majesty of the mountains of Colorado, and simultaneously her paradoxical and puzzling curiosity with the call of the sea; the countless lives she blessed in her service to various church communities as a choir member, youth leader, and of course, her predictable presence as that quintessential soprano voice pitching warbled praise to the heavens with tone we would all instantly recognize in any parish (and which we shall surely remember and secretly desire now that it is absent); her tendency to gleefully join the choir of crooners as she sang along to gospel recordings with the Gaithers, Alan Jackson, and Elvis; her covetous relationship with coupe convertibles, most especially her fantasies of owning a red, two-seater, Jaguar drop top; her infatuation with glass trinkets and Betty Boop collectibles; her tenderhearted weakness for every misfit animal which fortuitously wandered into her world; her endeared status as ‘everyone’s Granny;’ and of course, her appreciation for the flare and zest of life as evidenced by her sizeable and memorable collection of hats and her extensive collection of animal print blouses and fashion accessories!
With confidence in the Good News of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and through hope in His promise of eternal life, we pray for the peace and health of Connie’s blessed and forgiven soul. Moreover, we celebrate the benevolent gift of her long life, and we joyously contemplate the ease of being she now enjoys in the presence of her departed loved ones, ‘breathing easy’ now endlessly immersed in the healing Goodness of her Heavenly Father.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb 4th, 2023, at 10:00 AM, in the Centennial Covenant Church (401 W. Mineral Ave, Littleton CO). Connie’s family invites all to join together in remembrance of her story, with reception and fellowship time immediately following service. Connie’s daughter and granddaughters lightheartedly ask that ladies wishing to celebrate Connie’s unique eclecticism honor her written request, “Wear your fancy hat!”
Pursuant to Connie’s wishes, the family respectfully asks that memorial gifts and donations be directed in Connie’s name to: Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA), details accessible at phassociation.org.
For those of you wishing to pay your respects to Connie or simply visit a departed friend, her ashes will be interred at her personally chosen resting place, Mount Lindo Cemetery.
