Born Denver, CO November 8,1926 - Died March 14, 2018
David (Dave) Cantrell, an elementary school teacher, retired in 1984 after 30 years teaching within Denver Public Schools. He served in the US Navy Amphibious Corps during WWII in the South Pacific theatre, and on returning home completed undergraduate studies followed by a Master’s degree at the University of Denver. A second generation Colorado native, his life was marked by a love of nature, with his happiest times spent hiking and mountain climbing, downhill and cross country skiing with the Colorado Mountain Club. A world traveler with over 40 countries visited, he was an insatiable adventurer and continued to hike the mesas near his home in Golden well into his 80’s.
He is survived by his companion of 15 years Sarah Cottier of Lonetree, CO, his three children, Marque Cantrell and spouse Vickie Cantrell of Denver, CO, Amy Klindt and spouse Marty Klindt of Dallas,TX and Emily Cantrell of New York, NY, and his four grandsons Emilio Rios, Cody Klindt, Stephen Cantrell and spouse Amanda Cantrell, David Cantrell and spouse Jessica Cantrell and two great granddaughters Abigail and Hannah Cantrell.
