David Loren Meschke, age 88, of Brush, Colorado passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018. David was born September 29, 1929 in Faribault, Minnesota. David is preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Eva Meschke; his sister, Eileen Genheimer; and a daughter-in-law, Deby Meschke. David is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Meschke of Fort Morgan, CO; a son, Jim (Rachel) Meschke of Brush, CO; a daughter, Jayne (Bob) Alston of Parker, CO; and sons, John (Bert) Meschke of Broken Bow, NE, Jeff Meschke of Parrish, FL, and Jerry Meschke of Westcliffe, CO; his brother, Mel (Mariam) Meschke of New Ulm, MN; brother-in-law, Don Genheimer of Bradenton, FL; and will also be missed by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other loving family and friends.
Dave grew up on a dairy farm in southern Minnesota. He graduated from Wheaton College and Dallas Theological Seminary. David served as a chaplain in the United States Navy for 20 years. He was the General Director of Overseas Christian Servicemen’s Centers (now Cadence International), a ministry to the US military for 18 years. Then he founded a ministry to the military of Lands of Russia and traveled there over twenty-five times. His last trip to Russia was in 2010 when he was 79 years old. David loved singing hymns and introducing young people in the military to Jesus Christ.
A Visitation for David will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A Funeral Service will occur Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 am, with a short Visitation for the hour preceding the service beginning at 9:00 am. A Celebration of Life Reception will occur Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Summit Reception Room, immediately followed by a Committal Service at Fort Logan National Cemetery - Staging Area B, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236 at 12:30 pm.
