Marcelina D. Niblett (née Vasquez), known affectionately as Dee, passed away on June 28, 2024, at the age of 73, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Born on July 17, 1950, in Galeton, Colorado, Dee faced the challenges of Eisenmenger syndrome and Pulmonary Hypertension throughout her life, yet she lived each day with remarkable grace and compassion.
Dee was a beacon of love and support for her family, especially treasured by her daughter Carla, and granddaughters Declynn and Anamarie. Despite health challenges, Dee chose to embrace motherhood, a decision she described as the most rewarding of her life. Her children and grandchildren felt her profound love and support in every aspect of their lives.
She is survived by her daughter Carla Nierode, granddaughters Anamarie Crespin and Declynn Nierode, siblings Rose Doll, Kathy Chrisinger, Joe Vasquez, Sam Vasquez, Scott Whetstone and nieces Lori Martinez, Nora Dozier, Stacey Hoppe, nephews Ed Rodriguez, Terry Alonzo, many great nieces and nephews, and her two great-granddaughters, Brooklin and Aaliyah. Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Vasquez and Louise Whetstone, siblings Teresa Alonzo, Barbara Knox, Lee Rodriguez, and Christopher Whetstone, nieces Teresa Vasquez and Lisa Vasquez and nephew Delbert Jr.
Dee graduated from Adams City High School and later attended cosmetology school, enriching her life with both education and practical skills. Her hobbies included reading mystery novels by authors like James Patterson and Sue Grafton, cross-stitching, spending quality time with her granddaughter Declynn, baking, talking and teaching her to drive, enjoying brunches with her sisters and helping Lee make tamales. Dee cherished the close-knit relationship with her sister Lee, who was not only a sibling but her best friend. Dee's life, marked by kindness, courage, and an unwavering faith in God, will be forever cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
In remembrance of Dee, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Wounded Warriors Project, or toward Pulmonary Hypertension research, causes she deeply supported.
