• Kathy Frick passed away February 14th, 2025 surrounded by her three sons and several members of her immediate family.
• Born Delores Kathleen Reichert on April 10th, 1945 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Henry “H.K.” and Kathryn Reichert. Kathy’s upbringing was full of love and she spent her time pursuing academics and helping her parents farm in Mitchell, Nebraska.
• Kathy graduated from Gering High School in 1962 where she met and began dating Tom Frick, the love of her life. Kathy began her university studies at Scottsbluff Community College before transferring to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was here she joined her husband Tom whom she had married on August 14th, 1964. Kathy earned a counseling degree, with a minor in mathematics, from the University of Nebraska and went on to teach in Lincoln while Tom finished his degree in Electrical Engineering.
• In 1969, Tom and Kathy moved to Denver, Colorado where Kathy began her teaching career with Jefferson County Public Schools. Kathy taught, along with being a counselor and math coach, for thirty-eight plus years before she “retired” from teaching.
• In 1999 Kathy, with retired Tom in tow, spent a year in Queensland, Australia where Kathy fulfilled a lifelong dream of teaching abroad. It was here Kathy discovered the teaching resource, Math’s Mate, before their return home to Morrison, Colorado where they lived in their dream home on Red Rocks Country Club. Kathy promoted Math’s Mate, while Tom handled logistics, for several years before finally settling down to enjoy her family, friends and an impressive travel itinerary.
• If asked, Kathy valued honesty and positive thinking which was evident with the people she chose to be around all her life. Kathy valued her dear friends from every chapter of her life and was active with her Bridge Group, among other “gangs,” she ran around with. Kathy had a relentless bout with dementia in her later years, but she amazed all of us with her strength, bravery and positivity up until the end when she met her maker in love and peace.
• Kathy was preceded in death by her sister Jerlyn and her brother Ron. Kathy is survived by her sister Jeannette (Scottsbluff, NE), her sons Jason (Hannah), Brian (Meredith), Aaron (Kopper) and her ten grandchildren [Charlotte (27), Remington (26), Alyse (25), Johnnie (24), Henry (23), Joseph (21), Carter (20), Maelee (20), Ella (18), Poppy (8)] and two great-grandchildren Lennie Mae (2) and Rocky (8 months).
Open House/Reception will be held February 22nd from 4-6PM at The Conference Center at Ridgegate – 9977 Sky Ridge Avenue, Suite 401 Lone Tree, CO 80124
