Known to her family as Grandma or Grandma Dee, who loved her dearly. Dee was born to Lillian and Peter Blanck on October 12, 1920 in Burlington Iowa. She lived in Burlington with her parents until she met and married Arthur Hendrickson also from Burlington on June 17, 1937. Dee was a young bride as she welcomed a daughter, Barbara into the world. Then five years later a son, Gary. They shared many happy years in Iowa with friends and family. In 1960 they moved to Colorado-they loved the mountains so much and had vacationed there several times. They moved to Lakewood and lived there until 1989. Both Gary and Barbara followed them and many happy years with four grandchildren and then great grandchildren were spent and now two great great grandchildren.
In 1989 following Art’s retirement, they found an ideal retirement community-Wolhurst in Littleton.
The whole family joined in getting their new home in tiptop shape. During these retirement years they spent many days camping in the mountains and traveling to many states across the country.
Dee and Art were always active in church and served as greeters and ushers. Later they also volunteered at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver interacting with patients as they came in for surgery. Dee also enjoyed many hours of crocheting and was active in women’s groups putting on craft shows and other events. There were so many good times shared with Grandma Dee-she loved to cook and made the best Christmas goodies-her favorite was making divinity which was promptly devoured.
When she had to leave her home and go to assisted living, she tried to stay positive and make it through the best she could. We loved her for all the 100 years and know we will see her again in our heavenly home.
Dee was survived by her son Gary (Judy), grandchildren Debra Witham, Brad and Brian Van Dyke of Littleton Colorado and Alisa (Zach) Webb of New Braunfels Texas. Also great grandchildren, Nikki, Aaron, Jacob, Brandon, Aubrey and Willem. Great great grandchildren Emma and Carter.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 9:30am until the the time of service at 11:00am at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary with burial to follow in Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery.
