Dominic A. Romano, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on August 27, 2019. He is preceded in death by Olive, his wife of 58 years. Dom is survived by his daughter, Valerie, and her husband, John Edgerly, of Centennial with grandson Brett Edgerly; his son, James Romano, and his wife, Beth, of Manitou Springs with granddaughters: Sarah Diehl, and her husband Noah, Eleni Romano, and her husband Joseph Hippensteel, Jenny Romano, Meredith Preciado, and her husband Andrew. His great-grandchildren include Josephine, Bronwyn, Andrew, and Abigail. Surviving extended family also includes many nieces and nephews with their children, who, along with many friends, have fond memories of Dom.
Dom was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Louis and Mary Romano. After graduating Colorado Springs High School, Dom moved to Denver but had enlisted in the US Navy at the beginning of WWII. He returned home after serving with distinction, including serving during the invasion of Europe and the many major naval battles in the Pacific, on the USS Boise and then the USS Monssen. He met Olive in Denver through a friend and they married August 15, 1946 in Colorado Springs. In just a few years, Dom and Olive began careers of self-employment together that continued until they both retired in 1999. Dom and Olive spent their years together as loving spouses, best friends, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Among many other things, we will remember his courage in aging and his peaceful death.
Dom had many interests, including golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting, art, reading, hot air ballooning, and traveling. He was skilled in many areas of construction and completed many aspects of building for their home, family, and the business with true skill.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Olinger Chapel Hill. location at: 6601 S Colorado Boulevard, Centennial, Colorado. His graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. in Colorado Springs, on Wednesday, September 4. 2019 at 11:00 am.
