Donna L. Sommerville (Moritz) was an amazing woman who suffered from many respiratory issues and diseases. For the last several years she had been battling things such as COPD, emphysema and, recently, lung cancer as well which is what she had succumb too on October 31st 2015. Though this affected her life greatly, it did not stop the legacy that she had left behind for her kids, husband, and many other family members. Being the family-driven, intellectual and, above all else, headstrong woman that she was, she lead her children to strive towards their goals and then excel past them, being sure they were able to surpass any and all expectations that anyone had laid out before them.
In addition to all of those things, she was also a highly animal-oriented individual and did whatever she could to help any and all animals in any condition whether it be saving a stray dog from the street or a bird that had fallen from a nest. Before her illnesses, she spent much of her time glued to an interesting book, pushing her children through school, being sure that everyone had a clean and well-maintained home to return to. Sometimes — when she had the chance — you might be even be able to catch her sitting around a lake with her pole in the water, waiting to catch the big one. Being as headstrong as she was, she wouldn’t listen to any nonsense said by others. Once she checked the facts on something, there would be no way to change her mind, even if those facts were not completely correct.
Once the sicknesses developed within her, she managed to keep most of her personality, but her body could not keep up with what she wanted to accomplish. She slowly became house-ridden as her body resisted more and more over time. It got to the point where it was a struggle to get up and make food for herself. Though life was hard, she put up a strong fight and always made sure that her family was in good health. There aren’t enough words in the world to sum up what an amazing person she was and just how much she will be missed by the family members who remain: Husband Dan Sommerville, two children Andrew and Zac, Mother Helen Moritz, Sisters Kim and Cheryl, and several nieces and nephews.
