Dorothy Jean Massey, age 92, of Littleton, Colorado passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Dorothy was born October 18, 1926 in Denver, Colorado to Cecelia (Hesse) and Harry Kindig. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Richard Carlyle Massey; her parents; and her sister, Ruth Hales. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Debby Novotny Doig of Centennial, CO; Dianne Massey Dunbar of Aurora, CO and Pam (Dave Bennetts) Bent of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Jon (Andrea) Novotny of Thornton, CO, Josh (Casey) Novotny of San Diego, CA, Monte (Mara) Dunbar of Castle Rock, CO, Andy Dunbar of Parker, CO and Adam (Holly) Bent of Lakewood, CO; her great-grandchildren, Ewan Novotny, Gwen Novotny, Taylor Rand, and Caleb Rand; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.
Dorothy was a proud Denver native who loved the Broncos. She graduated with honors from the University of Denver in 1948 with a degree in Business. She devoted much of her life as a business manager for two Episcopal churches in the metro area. Dorothy was also well-known for her hand-crocheted Scrubbers that she sold at various craft shows. She was the matriarch, best friend, confidant, and the glue that held our family together. She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Reception in the Summit Room. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
