Dean attended grade school at Petersburg School and then went on to graduate from Littleton High School in 1946.
Dean married the love of his life, Lois Ann Sauers on July 14, 1951. The newlyweds were soon relocated to Camp Rucker, Alabama before transferring to Camp McCoy, Sparta, Wisconsin as Dean was part of the 199th Engineer Combat Battalion guard unit from 1950-1952. Upon being honorably discharged, Dean and Lois moved back to Littleton to raise their family.
Dean loved his family and always worked hard to support them. He spent many years working construction jobs, building amazing greenhouses, and being everyone’s handy-man.
Dean had his own greenhouse where he always showed off his green thumb by giving his masterpieces to others.
Dean’s passion for games came at an early age as he held the title of “Marble Champion” in 1936. His winning ways and love for games continued as he spent many years in a bowling league with his bride. He also opened his house for game night, went to the church for game day, and always invited people to play a round of cards any chance he had.
Dean never really retired. He spent time at his church offering his handy man expertise, and he volunteered at the Food Bank packaging food for others. He spent weekends square dancing and following his favorite caller. He continued to cut his lawn and even got caught climbing a ladder to trim a tree at the age of 89.
Dean is survived by Lois, his wife of almost 68 years, and his children: Stuart (Joyce) Rogers, Debra (Dick) Stevens, Gary (Karen) Rogers, Connie (Jerry) Gross, and Diana (Bob) Richards, twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many friends.
