Eleonora del Carmen Schroder (Cusa), age 98, of Morón, Province of Santa Clara, Cuba, passed away on September 8th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Henry Schroder, her 5 siblings. She is survived by 3 generations of loving family.
Eleonora was born in Cuba on March 20, 1927. She lived in Cuba until 1964 when she immigrated to the United States via Spain. She settled in Colorado and began building her life with her daughter and niece upon their arrivals in Denver. She took great pride in her work in the housekeeping department at Swedish Hospital where she worked from 1964 to 1974.
In 1974, after being introduced by his mother and a courtship of hand-written letters, Eleonora and Henry were married and began their life together in Arizona where she was blessed to add Henry’s 2 adult and 4 young children to her family.
Over the years they moved between Denver and Arizona several times before finally settling back in Denver in 1999. They spent many happy years together in their cozy casita in Denver until his death in 2010.
Eleonora loved to play Dominoes and Chinese Checkers, take a chance on Lotto tickets, and enjoyed the occasional trip to Central City. She showed her love by making those she loved their favorite Cuban desserts and praying daily for their health and safety.
After suffering a heart attack on August 3rd, she passed away on the morning of September 8th which was fittingly the feast day of ‘La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre,’ the patron saint of Cuba.
