Elizabeth Ann Demaree

Ann was the daughter of the late Hubert and Muriel. She earned a degree in dietetics from the University of Tennessee, then moved to Pueblo, Colorado to work as a dietician, and it was there she met John Lawrence "Larry" Beek, whom she married. They had two children, Leslie and Doug, and moved often during Larry's military postings, including three years in West Germany near Checkpoint Charlie before settling for a time in Alabama. Larry was killed in action in the Vietnam War in 1970. Ann was still in her twenties, raising two young children on her own.

She spent four years in Atlanta before returning to Colorado in 1974, back to the place where she'd interned during college and once made her home. She later married her neighbor, David Wayne Demaree, in 1978, and the family settled in the Smoky Hill Station neighborhood in 1979, where Ann and Dave lived for the next 45 years.

Family and faith were at the center of everything Ann did. She showed her love in everyday ways: a home-cooked meal, a long phone call, a visit when you needed one. She took deep pride and joy in her children and grandchildren, and she also loved the beach, the water, and the sun, especially on trips to Mexico with Dave.

In 2025, she moved downtown to Balfour. She didn't want to go at first, but she made good friends there and kept busy with bridge, water aerobics, and walks through the park. Leslie made the trip often to visit.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Leslie (Clyde), and her son, Doug (Laura), and five grandchildren: Moziah, Malcolm, Sarah, Rebecca, and Sebastian. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Lawrence "Larry" Beek, and her husband, David Wayne Demaree, who passed away in 2024.

There will be no formal services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
