Ellen was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 7, 1942 to John and Mildred Connell. Shortly after the end of World War II, the family moved to Denver, Colorado where Ellen spent most of her growing up years. While attending the University of Colorado, she met and eventually married Evans Nash. The US Army took them to Stuttgart, Germany where Ellen’s two children, Suzanne (Christi), and Gill were born. After a term of service in Germany, the family settled in Broomfield, Colorado. Ellen was very involved in her children’s lives, in the community (city council), and served as a Girl Scout Leader. She was blessed with many significant friendships. She also enjoyed a variety of hobbies from collecting dolls, antiques, and other various nicknacks.
After her children were grown and out of the home, she and Evans, ended their marriage amicably and Ellen worked for the Post Office where she completed a career serving postal workers in workman’s comp. During these years, she was also able to do some traveling including Japan, Nepal, and later to Thailand and Malaysia.
In her later years, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which she handled with grace and courage. As life became more challenging, she moved in with her son, Gill and his family who were living in Monument, Colorado. Eventually she moved to assisted living and finally memory care at Jackson Creek Senior Living. Those who knew Ellen would often comment on just how kind-hearted, sweet, and caring a person she was right up to the day that she passed. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her and is greatly missed.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (and Mark), her son, Gill (and Karen), her grandchildren, Ciera, Tayler (Ker), and Kaylee (Kaiden), her great-grandchildren, Penelope and Lottie, her sisters, Elaine (Jeff) and Elizabeth, and her brother, John (Eileen) along with many dear extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Connell, and her sister, Jane (Russell) as well as her former husband and friend, Evans.
A celebration of life for Ellen will be held day, July , 2025 at 2:00 PM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd, Centennial, Colorado, followed by a reception from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
