Ethel Margaret Taylor

Ethel was born on January 2, 1918 in Fall City, NE, the daughter of Charles and Beulah Heltman. The third of five children, she graduated from Englewood High School in 1935. She married Richard Huff of Denver, CO in 1936. Together they raised two daughters in Englewood, CO. Mr. Huff preceded her in death in 1968. She married Malcolm Taylor in 1977. He also preceded her in death in 2002. Brothers Rollie and Charles Heltman and sister Hazel Betts all preceded her in death.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she sang in the choir and was the piano accompanist for the Children’s Bell Choir. She volunteered for the Red Cross for 25 years, was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Denver, CO, a vice president of the Englewood Republican Women’s Club, and a member of the Englewood LeOta Service Club. For many years she lovingly volunteered her time visiting and playing the piano for the residents of Cherrelyn Nursing home in Englewood, CO. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting, reading, playing the piano and organ, swimming and playing bridge and listening to baseball games on the radio.

She is survived by her sister Joanne (Stan) Hale of Lubbock, TX, two daughters, Diane Wine of Centennial, CO and Carol Gill Smith (Chuck Smith), of Littleton, CO, four grandchildren (Kristin Jonson of Woodinville, WA, Mark Wine of Fountain, CO Shelli Nolen of Leawood, KS, Melissa Gill Meeks of Highlands Ranch, CO, and nine great grandchildren, Conor Jonson, Matthew Jonson, Branden Wine, Jeremy Wine, Lara Wine, Archer Nolen, Matthew Meeks, Walker Meeks and Holland Meeks) and three great, great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 8817 South Broadway, Highlands Ranch, CO. 80129. A reception will follow.
