Evelyn L. Preston

October 9, 1928 – November 1, 2022
Obituary of Evelyn L. Preston
IN THE CARE OF

Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery

Evelyn Lucille Preston was 94 years old when her life on earth ended last week. Until that time, she had lived a life filled with family, friends and her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior.

Evelyn was born in Sterling, CO, on October 9, 1928. Later she moved with her parents, Sam and Marie Roby, and her siblings to Englewood. The Roby family was large by today’s standards with 12 children, 5 sons and 7 daughters. Evelyn was the oldest daughter. She is survived by her two loving sisters, Betty Williams and Rosie Tyler.

It was in Englewood that Evelyn met Jim Preston, and they were eventually married on March 2, 1947. She and Jim enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his death in August 2012.

The family moved from Englewood to southwest Denver where they raised four children, James, Gary, Greg, and Pam. Evelyn and Jim were loving and faithful partners and parents, and they and their kids were active members of Judson Memorial Baptist Church during those years and later enjoyed the fellowship of Bear Valley Church and Mission Hills Church during their empty nest years.

Evelyn was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker until her daughter, Pam, was in junior high school, then she and Jim started their own business, Preston Construction Co. It was a very successful business, so they were able to sell it in 1984 and then spent many years enjoying their 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, as well as traveling in their various RVs to see and enjoy every state in the USA.

After Jim’s death in 2012, Evelyn sold their home in Littleton and moved to a Senior Living Community in Lakewood. She is survived by her 4 adult children—sons Jim and wife Billie Jo, Gary and wife Suzie, Greg and wife Marilyn, and daughter Pam.
