Foresta Jean Davis, Ninety-eight years ago, Foresta Jean Johnson Davis was born into a Niwot, Colorado pioneer family. On February 6, surrounded by family members, Jean Davis passed in Longmont United Hospital. She was a woman who loved many things: her family, learning things, travel and her garden.
Jean was an optimistic, cheerful soul. She spent her childhood on a small farm in a small town among a large extended family. In the depths of the depression, she went to college and graduated with a degree in Horticulture from Colorado State University in 1940. She was married to Frank Davis for over 50 years and they had six children, twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Over the years, she kept her strength and lived with gentle courage. Jean encouraged her children and grandchildren to learn and was proud of their successes. She enjoyed traveling with family and her sister, Bettie to wherever she could go. Following her mother, Inez Johnson’s lead, Jean was a live-long member of the Territorial Daughters.
In 2007, she suffered a stroke and lived in the Live Care Center of Longmont. There, she gathered a circle of friends. She became president of the resident association and oversaw the gardening projects. She loved the activities, especially Bingo, field trips to Walmart and the dinner theater. Until her last days, she read the local newspaper cover-to-cover every day and generously gave the ads and coupons to the people who helped her.
Jean is survived by her beloved sister Bettie Cram and her children Gary, Jim, Bill, Bob, Carol and Dorothy. Her kind spirit will be missed by all.
