

With great sadness we announce the passing of Frank Leroy Montijo, 89, of Lakewood, Colorado. Frank died peacefully after a short illness surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Elouise, his wife of 68 years, three sons (spouses), Gary (Martha), Allen (Lisa), and Jim (Sandra). He had six grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Kristen, Dominique, Ashley, and Julia. He is also survived by his brother, Henry, his niece, Denise and nephew Mike. Frank was born 10/20/33 in California to Henry and Violet (Price) Montijo. He served honorably in the United State Navy during the Korean War as a Tin Can Sailor, as a Fire Control Technician maintaining all 40mm guns and fired the 5" guns. During his service, he earned 5 Battle Stars (1 Silver Battle Star). After which he became an optician. Frank was proud of his military service and spent 15 years after his own service volunteering as an optician in the VA hospital. Frank spent over 6000 hours serving 47,000 veterans and only required a handshake and a smile for payment. He was presented with many awards and even interviewed by Katie Couric for a national news program due to his dedicated and extensive service. Frank loved to fish, hunt and camp. Frank enjoyed telling jokes and pulling small pranks on his family, something for which he will always be remembered.
