Known over the years by various nicknames –Grog, Gregor, GJ, Greg – he lived life to the fullest extent with an incredibly generous heart and fun-loving spirit
Greg was a very bright person with a thirst for knowledge. He read voraciously and could converse about any subject under the sun. Growing up, he spent countless hours with his father, Richard learning how to build things and make things work which gave him the ability to build or fix anything as an adult.
Greg married the love of his life, Sheryl, on Peaks Island, ME in July, 1998. Together, they blessed all our lives with their two beautiful children, daughter Seraina and son Sam. His role as a husband and father was always his favorite and he loved his family more than anything.
Greg introduced one of his best friends, Mark Sermons to his sister and gained a brother-in-law. Greg adored and was adored by their children, Aubrey and Teddie.
He and his best friend and brother-in-arms, Doug Slater, shared many adventures including a love of hunting and hanging out at their camp at Caribou Lake in the North Maine Woods.
Greg left our world to join his mother in heaven on October 2, 2012. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind his beloved uncle Bill Sterling, Grandmother Rita Sterling, uncle Ken Sterling and aunt Caroline Ennis as well as many cousins and friends.
Greg was never one to sit still and loved to travel. He loved his job as a flight attendant for PanAm as it allowed him to visit many places all over the world but his favorites away from home were always Peaks Island and Caribou Lake, ME.
Greg will be mourned and missed by many. He never met a stranger and had a gift of bringing the most amazing people into our lives.
His final act was helping many lives through organ donation.
Greg’s formative years were spent in New Orleans and he had a deep love of the city. As a special tribute to his memory, a celebration of his life and proper Second Line Parade will take place on Peaks Island in the summer of 2013.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in memory of Greg to the Fifth Maine Regiment, P.O. Box 41, Peaks Island, ME 04108, http://www.fifthmainemuseum.org
