

Harold James Harvey deceased May 28, 2013 in his home in Littleton, CO after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife Janet Harvey, son Michael Harvey, daughters Terri Ruecker, Sandi Mishler, Beverly Scott and Janis Brown, 2 stepdaughters Kathy Chesser and Laurie Cole, 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie Harvey, and a great-grandchild, Cassandra Harvey.
Harold was the youngest of 5 children born to Dollie Mae Craig and Alfonso Taft Harvey in Linneus, MO. After his mother’s death, his father was remarried to an abusive woman, and then a second time to a woman Harold was very fond of.
In his young teenage years, Harold moved to Wyoming to break horses with his brother, then returned to Holcomb, Kansas where he met his first wife, Rosalie Smith and married in January of 1945. He was 16, she was only 15. Soon after, they moved to Tacoma, Washington where Harold worked in the shipyard with his brother to assist with the WWII efforts. They later moved back to Garden City, Kansas where he worked in a sugar beet factory and as an iceman, delivering blocks of ice.
Harold and Rose settled in Colorado in 1951 to raise their growing family. He supported his family by hunting wild game and fishing. He also worked at General Iron Works and retired from there after 35 years of service when the plant closed down.
Harold’s first wife died of cancer in 1988. He met his current wife, Janet Harvey on a blind date the following year and were married in September of 1992.
Harold enjoyed metal detecting, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He liked to watch John Wayne and other westerns, playing cards with family and friends watching movies, eating home-made ice cream and going out to restaurants.
