Irene was born in Grand Island, Nebraska in 1919, the second child of Frank Chapman Albee and Ethel Ora Boyce Albee. Her siblings included older brother Harold, younger twin sisters Hazel and Helen, and youngest brother Bob. After graduating from high school, Irene moved to Denver and then to Phoenix, Arizona. She met and married Allan L. Egelston in 1946. They had four children, Lindsay (Linda), Brenda, Kathy and Bruce. The family settled in Englewood, Colorado in 1959.
She retired from the Littleton Finance Department in 1985. Her twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren were a source of pleasure for her and she enjoyed frequent gatherings and events with her large family.
She was loved by her family and friends and will be very much missed.
