Jacquie was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Akron, Ohio, where her family moved during her early childhood. From an early age, Jacquie and her sister, Marilyn, shared a love of dance and performance. Their passion led them to form a performing dance team known as the Melody Mellers.
After graduating from high school in Akron, Jacquie began working at Goodyear Aerospace. There she met Kenton Circle. They married and welcomed two sons, Jeff and Randy. In 1961, the family moved to Colorado, and in 1965 they joyfully adopted twin daughters, Karen and Kristen.
Jacquie later returned to the work place holding positions at RTD, Southglenn National Bank, and Littleton National Bank.
In 1975, Jacquie married Joe Boyd. Together with Karen and Kristen, they moved to Hayden, Colorado, where Joe became President of Yampa Valley National Bank and Jacquie began what would become one of her most meaningful roles—as Director of the Hayden Public Library, also known as the West Routt County Library District.
Jacquie led the major construction renovation project for the Hayden Public Library. Her forward-thinking leadership brought computers and new community programs to the library, making it a vibrant gathering place for Hayden residents. The Library was so popular with the community that it warranted another major construction effort that doubled the size of the Hayden Public Library which Jacquie led once again. As head of the Hayden Library, she also served on the regional consortium group of Libraries.
Jacquie’s philanthropic efforts were many. She participated with Eastern Star and also served on the Hayden Board of Directors for the new construction project of the Haven – an assisted living residence in Hayden.
Jacquie was known not only for her leadership but also for her style. She had a fondness for fashion and carried herself with elegance; compliments on her polished, classic attire were frequent.
Family was very important to Jacquie and she had a special and unique bond with each member of her family. Jacquie came to be known as “Grammie” by all of the Grand-Children and Great-Grandchildren. Holidays and special events often led to a full house at Grammie’s. Grammie was very special to family and family was very special to Grammie.
After Joe’s retirement, they returned to the Littleton/Centennial area to be closer to family and friends. Jacquie’s philanthropic efforts continued with her involvement as a Director of the Assistance League in Denver.
Jacquie has maintained and treasured a tremendous circle of friends from different stages of her life and multiple interest groups – from childhood companions to Neighborhood friends to multiple Bridge and Bunko groups.
She also loved to travel, exploring destinations with family and friends including Australia, Aruba, Austria, Belize, France, and New Zealand, as well as many U.S. states such as Hawaii, California, Texas, and Florida. One of her lifelong dreams was fulfilled when her son Jeff took her on a trip to Paris. One week in Paris included touring the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre, Sacre Coeur and the Rodin Museum. Another week included the Monet home and gardens, and exploring the castles of the Loire Valley and Mont St. Michelle—an experience she cherished deeply.
She had an appreciation of the arts seeing performances in Denver with family and friends that included plays, season tickets to the ballet, and visiting special museum exhibits.
Jacquie’s love of books and reading was constant throughout her life. She always had a recommendation ready and delighted in connecting people with books and authors they would love.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held in a few weeks at a location and date and time that will be provided by her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your Public Library in Jacquie’s memory.
