James “Jim” G. Willson, Jr. passed away on November 17, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, J. Gardner and Marion Willson. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn “Kay” Willson; sister Elizabeth (Dr. Robert) MacLauchlin; daughter Gay (Rick) Hollar and son Gary Willson; grandchildren Kristi (Jon) Babcock, Jessica Hollar, Zachary and Rachel Willson; and great-grandchildren Connor, Kaleb, and Kenzie Babcock. A graduate of East High School, he then attended Park College in Parkville, MO, graduating in 1956. The day after graduation, he married college sweetheart Kay. He returned to Colorado to receive his J.D. in 1959 from C.U. School of Law, then began work at the Tallmadge & Tallmadge Law Firm and later became a partner of the firm. Eventually, Jim went on to head the Willson & Lamm Law Firm, specializing in municipal finance. He was an active member in the Republican Party; member and legal advisor to the Rocky Mountain Guides Association; and was a member of several bar associations, including the ABA, CBA, and Boulder Bar Association. Jim was also a member of History Colorado, the Estes Park Museum, and member of the Bear Valley Church Choir and Men’s Prayer Group. He loved the mountains, Jeep-riding in the back country, and camping. He was also a great dog lover and a long-time devoted fan of the Denver Nuggets basketball team – even back to when they were known as the Denver Rockets!
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance and the Inner City Health Center in Denver.
