Janice Mae Baclawski passed away and went to Heaven on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the age of 85. She follows her husband of 55 years, Alexander (Alex) Baclawski, who passed in May 2020. Her brother Lyle Jeglum also preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Glenn Jeglum, sons Michael, Dan, and Jeff Baclawski, daughter-in-law Kara Baclawski, and two grandchildren, Ashley and Connor Baclawski.
Janice was born on September 18, 1939, near Fortuna, North Dakota, where her family homesteaded in 1907 and her extended family still farms today. Through her family and growing up on the farm, the values of hard work and dedication were strongly instilled.
In her twenties, Janice went to Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, North Dakota for her nursing degree. As a nurse is where her deeply compassionate heart first became evident to all. Her nursing career took her to Denver, CO, where she met her husband, raised her family, and ran several small businesses with Alex.
Janice’s and Alex’s adventurous spirit took them and their kids on motorcycle and snowmobile rides, RV’ing, and wintering in places like the Sea of Cortez, Mexico. She was active raising her children and in her Christian faith, where she established long and deep friendships.
Well humored through it all, Janice valiantly finished her walk in this life after carrying the burden of Parkinson’s disease for more than 15 years. Whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or a quiet act of service, with grace, she embodied the love of God in a way that inspires us all.
