Joan Elizabeth (Rupert) Blumenshine, age 88, of Aurora, Colorado passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018. Joan was born, April 21, 1930, at the Chase ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. She grew up with her parents and half-sister on the ranch. After graduating high school, she married at age 18 to Jay Jones. Joan and Jay had two children together, Tom Jones born in 1948 and Cathy born 2 years later.
She remarried in 1955 to Richard Weise, an electrical engineer that worked with the tote company. They traveled all over the United States with his job. At many locations, Joan worked as a cashier at the race track. They settled in Littleton, Colorado after buying their first home. For several years they enjoyed Colorado living with friends and family close by. In 1996, Richard passed away.
Joan was very involved with her church, Redeemer Temple, which she was a member for over 40 years. She took pleasure in helping her church family when needed. One of her greatest joys was organizing and hosting dinner parties, holiday events, and special occasions.
In 1997, Joan married Leonard Blumenshine. They resided in Aurora, Colorado but experienced many travels to other countries and enjoyed wintering in Florida and Arizona. Len recently passed away on September 7, 2018, and Joan followed on November 24, 2018.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Leonard J. Blumenshine; her son, Tom Jones; and her parents, Margaret (Chase) and Tommy Rupert. Joan is survived by her daughter, Cathy Pearson of Centennial, CO; grandchildren, Stanley (Rose) Mashek of Aurora, CO, Tanya (Rick) Goetz of Windsor, CO, Luke (Mandi) Mashek of Aurora, CO, Philip Mashek of Aurora, CO, and Stephen Mashek of Aurora, CO; and will be missed by numerous great-grandchildren and other loving family and friends.
A funeral service for Joan will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Redeemer Temple, 3701 W 64th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003 followed immediately by a celebration of life reception in the fellowship hall. Joan will be laid to eternal rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
