Joan Christopherson

Joan possessed a strong, outgoing personality; bright and witty with a great smile who made friends easily. She was a woman of integrity, who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. To Joan it was important to keep all her many friends connected, including some going as far back as grade school. Over the years, they enjoyed many get togethers to reunite. She described herself as a “keep in toucher”.

She was extremely creative and accomplished in a variety of arts and crafts. Her first love though was quilting and belonged to several quilting bees. Many of her beautiful quilts she has gifted to family and friends. Also, in recent years she had taken up Mah Jongg and became an avid player.

Joan was passionate about travel and adventure. In earlier years she and her husband found joy camping and hiking throughout Colorado. Together they have taken many trips around the United States as well as abroad, their last trip being Australia in December. She finally reached her goal of visiting all 50 states this last year, and yes, the last was North Dakota.

Joan’s loving, creative, adventurous soul will long be remembered and missed by family and friends who knew her.

Joan was born in St Louis on March 16, 1946. She graduated from SMU Cox School of Business where she was president of her sorority Alpha Delta Pi and spent most of her career in commercial real estate banking and lending.

She is survived by her husband Dennis Christopherson, sister-in-law Debra Delaney, brother-in-law Will Hardin, nieces Donna Golub, Annette Christopherson, Kate Hardin and Katie Delaney, nephews Travis Hardin, John Delaney and Michael Delaney. She was preceded in death by parents Robert Hill Lewis Jr, Harriett Lloyd Lewis and sister Nancy L Hardin.

A memorial to celebrate Joan’s life and share memories to be held at a later date.
