Joan B. Dixon passed away on December 21, 2015. Beloved wife of Dan Dixon for 50 years, dearest mother of Dillon (Paige) Dixon, Dave (Angie) Dixon and Jill (Jon Wachter) Dixon, loving daughter of Ray (Louise, dec.) Bessick, sister of Linda (Gene) Lewis, Rick Bessick, Barbara (Jim) Halleron, Patti (Sam) Strano and Diane Rudzitis, and Grandma (“JoJo”) to Drake, Grace and Declan Dixon.
Joan was born on March 17, 1942 (St. Patrick’s Day) in Cleveland, OH. She graduated from Kent State University, met and married Dan and became an elementary school teacher as they relocated several times in association with Dan’s service in the Army. They moved to Denver in 1977 where she devoted herself to being a wonderful mother while painting her way into many hearts/homes on the side with repurposed antiques and other decorative pieces. Her work evolved into a full-time interior decorating business where she had a very special way of turning many a house into a home.
Joan was the light of our lives; and her big heart, constant smile and care for others made the world a little kinder and more beautiful. A consummate volunteer, always willing to help, she touched many lives, and was loved beyond measure. We will miss her always.
There will be a Viewing at the Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, Tuesday, December 29, 2015, 4:00-7:30PM with Rosary Service commencing at 6:00PM in the chapel.
A Memorial Mass will be held on, Tuesday, January 5, 2016, 10:00AM, Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2250 South Harrison St., Denver, Colorado 80210 with a reception to follow (location TBD).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Anchor Center for Blind Children (http://www.anchorcenter.org/donate.aspx), an organization very important to Joan since its inception.
